UMTV Hosts "The Business of Funny" Panel
On Thursday, January 22nd at 4:00 P.M., UMTV broadcasted a special panel that explored pressing issues in television comedy and addressed questions posed by students and faculty. The panel was broadcasted LIVE from School of Communication Studio C and Sam L Grogg, Dean of the School of Communication, moderated the panel discussion and took questions from the audience. Participants in "The Business of Funny Panel" included Gloria Calderon Kellett, writer and co-producer for CBS's sitcom "How I Met Your Mother"; Dan Norton, talent agent for the William Morris Agency; Elizabeth Porter, Senior Vice-President for Specials and Talent, Comedy Central; and Marcus Wiley, Vice President for Comedy Development, Fox Broadcasting. This panel was brought to you by the William Morris Agency, the South Beach Comedy Festival, and UMTV.

UMTV Students Broadcast Live Sports for ACCSelect.com
Beginning in Fall 2008, UMTV began to offer it's student volunteers the chance to get unparalled live broadcast experience when it began covering UM Athletics for ACC Select. ACC Select offers online streaming of ACC Athletics through a partnership with Raycom Sports and CBS College Sports. This is a great opportunity for School of Communication students to get live production experience right on the UM Campus. Humor Columnist, Dave Barry appears on OTW Finale!
With an exciting season coming to an end, Off the Wire, University of Miami's Late-Night Sketch Comedy Show, celebrated their season finale with humor columnist, Dave Barry. Barry's work has appeared in more than 500 newspapers in the U.S. & abroad. In 1988, Barry won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary.

SportsDesk Brings Special Guests to Panel Segment
On Friday Nov. 14th, SportsDesk featured an exclusive interview with Dan Le Batard, UM Class of 1990. Le Batard is a Sports Columnist for the Miami Herald, host of The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz on 790 WAXY-AM "The Ticket," as well as a regular guest host on ESPN’s Pardon the Interruption. Also on the Nov. 21st edition, WPLG ABC 10 sports anchor Will Manso appeared on SportsDesk's weekly panel segment. Past guests have included WTVJ NBC 6 sports reporter Adam Kuperstein and 560 WQAM's Joe Zagacki, The Voice of the Miami Hurricanes.

We The Students Hosts International Debate
We the Students is hosting a debate featuring the UM debate team and the British Debate team next Tuesday Nov. 11 at 9pm in an inaugural international debate. Any student can log into our site www.wethestudents.tv to view the debate, comment on the discussion and ask questions to the debaters!
