Flocking to Florida: How Florida’s flamingos are making a comeback

For centuries, flamingos have been native to Florida, but by the early 1900s, they nearly disappeared. Hunting, habitat loss and the plume trade, where their feathers were used for fashion, pushed them out. But after nearly a century of absence, scientists and wildlife watchers say the birds are reappearing and small but growing numbers. And some are trying to have them named as the new state bird.
