Join UMTV
UMTV is open to all students at the University of Miami, regardless of your major or experience.
Whether you have an interest in on-air roles, behind-the-scenes, writing, crewing, producing, directing, or just being part of the team, there is something for everyone. We encourage you to join multiple shows and try out different positions to see what might best fit your skills and interests. If you have any questions about how to get involved, reach out to our team.
Here is the UMTV Handbook, which contains all relevant policies/procedures, and here is the full UMTV schedule for Fall 2026.
General Body Meeting/Open House
Each semester, UMTV hosts a General Body Meeting in the Cosford Cinema (second floor of Dooly Memorial), followed by an Open House in the broadcast studios (first floor of Wolfson building in the SoC) to share information about shows, specials, open positions, and on-air talent auditions. Both new and returning members should plan to attend this meeting.
If you missed the Fall 2026 meetings, you can review the slides here. These contain audition requirements and other information about the shows.
Apply Now
On-Air Talent Audition Signup
Book your audition to be on-air (your miami.edu account is required to use this form). We will accept walk-in auditions if you are unable to secure a spot — email the show Executive Producers to coordinate. Please note: Audition Signup will only be available after the UMTV General Body Meeting/Open House.
Volunteer + Crew Interest Form
Join UMTV’s production team or technical crew. You do NOT have to audition to be part of the crew for any UMTV shows.
UMTV Practicum
Did you know you can receive course credit for UMTV? The UMTV Practicum (JMM 300-02 with Professor Ezzy) allows you to earn one credit per semester, for a total of three semesters — this means you can satisfy one of your JMM 300+ electives with UMTV.
To qualify, you must participate in at least 45 documented hours of UMTV work over the course of the semester. This can include on-camera work, crewing, producing, or reporting.
Interested? Email Professor Ezzy for the permission code to enroll in the course.
