Executive Board
The UMTV Executive Board is comprised of “Officer” positions, each with specific responsibilities, and two Executive Producer positions for each active UMTV show. The group meets at least once per month to discuss ongoing UMTV projects, goals, and policies. All E-Board positions are meant to last for one full academic year, with the ability to reapply.

Shea McDonald
Station Manager | Class of 2027
Shea McDonald is a senior majoring in Broadcast Journalism and Communication Honors. Shea is UMTV’s Station Manager and an active reporter, anchor, producer, and director across UMTV programs including SportsDesk, NewsVision, Off The Wire, and UMTV Special Presentations. Shea is a freelance sports podcast analyst and works as a Production Assistant for UM Athletics. He hopes to pursue a career in sports media.

Andrew Worley
Assistant Station Manager | Class of 2027
Andrew Worley is a senior majoring in Broadcast Journalism and Meteorology. Andrew is UMTV’s Assistant Station Manager and plays a strong behind-the-scenes role across multiple UMTV shows. Andrew works as a Production Assistant for UM Athletics and has experience creating content for varying media outlets. He hopes to improve UMTV to the best of his abilities.

Sarah Landau
Outreach Coordinator | Class of 2028
Sarah Landau is a junior majoring in broadcast journalism and minoring in sports media, sports medicine, and psychology. She has taken part in both on and off-camera positions throughout UMTV, namely through SportsDesk, NewsBreak, and CanesCast. In her free time, she enjoys taking photos and enhancing her skills in different digital mediums. Sarah is passionate about sports and hopes to pursue a career in sports reporting.

Jeremy Fonseca
Assignment Editor | Class of 2027
Jeremy Fonseca is a senior at the University of Miami with experience in sports media, video production, and live athletic coverage. Jeremy is UMTV’s Assignment Editor, where he assists in coordinating UMTV media credentials and stories. He also serves as a video editor/producer for UMTV SportsDesk, and works as a student production assistant for University of Miami Athletics. Through these roles, he has gained hands-on experience in editing, producing, coordinating coverage, and supporting live sports productions. He hopes to continue building a career in sports media and video production.

Dani Vega
Social Media Coordinator and SportsDesk Executive Producer | Class of 2028
Dani Vega is a junior majoring in Broadcast Journalism with minors in Public Relations and Dance. At UMTV, she serves as Social Media Coordinator and Executive Producer of SportsDesk, bringing experience both on-air and behind the scenes across multiple shows. Outside of UMTV, she is a member of UM En Pointe Ballet Club. With interests spanning broadcast, digital, and social media, Dani is passionate about finding creative ways to connect with audiences through storytelling and content creation. She hopes to pursue graduate school with the goal of producing for a local newsroom and one day becoming a professor.

Elena Fallow
NewsBreak Executive Producer | Class of 2027
Elena Fallow is a senior majoring in Journalism and Political Science. She is the Executive Producer of NewsBreak and has been involved with UMTV as an anchor and reporter for NewsBreak and UniMiami. Elena has a special interest in political reporting and brought a new political analysis segment to NewsBreak. Outside of UMTV, Elena is passionate about print journalism and works as an editor for The Miami Hurricane, UM’s student-run newspaper.

Emma Balleste
UniMiami Executive Producer | Class of 2027
Emma Balleste is a Senior majoring in Broadcast Journalism with minors in French and Law & Politics. Emma currently serves as the Executive Producer for UniMiami and is a Video Producer for NewsVision. In previous semesters, Emma has anchored across different shows such as NewsBreak, NewsVision and UniMiami. She also enjoys crewing and working behind the scenes, helping bring stories to life. Outside of UMTV, Emma is passionate about pursuing a career in Broadcast Journalism and is always looking for new opportunities to learn and grow in her career path.

Jessica Valdes is a senior majoring in Broadcast Journalism. She is the Executive Producer of NewsVision and an active member of UMTV, with experience in anchoring, reporting, and newsroom editing. Outside of UMTV, she has worked with University of Miami Athletics, Streann Media, and the Ryan Seacrest Foundation. She hopes to pursue a career in broadcast media, focusing on storytelling and amplifying diverse voices.

Jordyn Minnis
NewsVision Executive Producer | Class of 2028
Jordyn Minnis is a junior majoring in Motion Pictures Business and Political Economics with a minor in Business Law. Jordyn serves as the Executive Producer of NewsVision and has contributed as an editor, reporter, and writer for shows including Off the Wire, UniMiami, and NewsBreak. Outside of UMTV, Jordyn serves as the Lead Resident Assistant for Biscayne Residential College and a member of the University of Miami Business Ethics Debate Team. This summer, she gained hands-on newsroom production experience by working with local NBC 6 News. Aspiring to become a media attorney, Jordyn hopes to advocate for the creatives who inform the public and help unite society through truthful and impactful storytelling.

Kelly McDermott
Pulse Executive Producer | Class of 2028
Kelly McDermott is a junior majoring in Broadcast Journalism with minors in Spanish and Entrepreneurship. She is the Executive Producer of Pulse with experience in anchoring, reporting, writing and video editing with shows like NewsBreak and NewsVision. Outside of UMTV, Kelly enjoys spending time outside, being active, trying new restaurants and being with friends and family. She has worked with WROC-TV in Rochester, NY and plans to continue her career as on-camera talent in the news industry.

Lauren Tomak

Lauren Tomak is a senior majoring in Broadcast Journalism and Public Relations with a minor in Entrepreneurship at the University of Miami. She is the Executive Producer of Pulse and has experience in anchoring, reporting, writing and video editing for shows including Pulse, NewsBreak and NewsVision. She enjoys both reporting on camera and working behind the scenes to help produce engaging content. Outside of UMTV, Lauren is passionate about pursuing a career in broadcast journalism and is always looking for new opportunities to grow her experience in the industry.

Lazaro Chavez
NewsBreak Executive Producer | Class of 2026
Lazaro Chavez is a senior majoring in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Political Science. He is Executive Producer of NewsBreak and has contributed in a variety of roles across multiple UMTV shows. Lazaro is also a senior writer for The Miami Hurricane, covering news, sports, arts, and political op-eds, and he serves as President of the College Republicans. Off campus, Lazaro is active in local politics through the City of Hialeah Beautification Committee and managed communications for his sister’s city council campaign. Lazaro hopes to pursue a career in media both on-air and behind the scenes, with a long-term goal of holding public office.

Mel Tenkoff
SportsDesk Executive Producer | Class of 2027
Mel Tenkoff is a senior majoring in Media Management and Mathematics with minors in Strategic Communication, Finance, and Economics. Mel is the Executive Producer and Director of SportsDesk. In previous semesters, Mel has worked behind the scenes producing, technical directing, and refining her skills in building a show. Outside of UMTV, she serves as the Lead RA in Eaton Residential College, Director of University Affairs for Student Government, and as an Intern for UM Strategic Communications. Mel hopes to pursue a leadership career in the media industry.

William DePaola
CanesCast Executive Producer | Class of 2027
William DePaola is a senior majoring in Meteorology and Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Mathematics. William has been a part of CanesCast for four years and delivers weather forecasts for NewsVision. He also has experience with WSI MAX, which is an industry-approved weather graphics system. William hopes to pursue a career in broadcast meteorology.
