UMTV is the University of Miami’s Emmy Award-winning, student-run cable TV station. Guided by the School of Communication faculty, UMTV produces weekly newscasts and a variety of programming, including a weekly live newscast and sports show, a late night comedy program, an entertainment show and two Spanish-language programs.<br /> <br /> In addition to airing in the Coral Gables area, shows are available online at umtv.miami.edu. Danyel De Villiers is a Junior majoring in Broadcast Journalism and minoring in Advertising and Motion Pictures. A Miami Native, it’s always been Danyel’s dream to attend the university. He has been a member of Sports Desk since his Freshman year and served as an associate producer this past school year. In 2018, he received the university's first-ever Best Of award by the Broadcast Education Association in the Sports Story/Feature category. Outside of school, he runs his own videography where he films and produces weddings, corporate events, and commercials in the Miami area.
Valerie Ferrante is one of the executive producers of UMTV's SportsDesk. She is a senior majoring in Motion Picture Production with minors in Media Management and Religious Studies. She is a member of Delta Kappa Alpha, the professional cinematic arts fraternity on campus, as well as Alpha Delta Pi sorority. In her free time she likes to go to the beach and binge watch Gilmore Girls on Netflix.
Gianna Sanchez is a junior majoring in Broadcast Journalism and minoring in the Music Business and Entertainment Industries. Before becoming an Executive Producer of SportsDesk, she was an Associate Producer for two years and an Executive Producer for NewsBreak. This past summer, she interned in the Investigative Unit at NBC 6. Along with her involvement in UMTV, Gianna is the External Vice Chair for Category 5, Photo Editor for Distraction and a tour guide for P100.
